Kevin Varner opened the Hunter-Gatherer Brewery in 1995, and he has brewed every batch of beer at the H-G since He learned the craft of brewing at Hales Ales in Seattle, Washington. Hales is one of the oldest microbreweries in the country, and Hale’s Pale Ale is the Northwest’s first craft brewed pale ale.
