All of our beers are carefully handcrafted by the owner and master brewer, Kevin Varner. His passion for craft beer drives the flavor and color. He chooses to brew every batch himself to ensure the quality for his patrons.

Hunter-Gatherer Brewery is the oldest locally owned brewery in Columbia, South Carolina. This establishment is family owned and operated since 1995. Their second location, the Hangar opened in January 2018.

Kevin has brewed every batch of beer at Hunter-Gatherer since opening almost twenty-six years ago. He learned the craft of brewing in Seattle, Washington at Hales Ales, one of the oldest microbreweries in the country.
